On September 15, 2023, the Draft Law No. 10060 On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and Other Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Strengthening the Independence of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office was registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
On December 08, 2023, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine No. 3509-IX On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and Other Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Strengthening the Independence of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
Part ten of Article 8-1 of the Law of Ukraine On the Prosecutor's Office fully reproduces the provisions of the measure provided for in sub-clause 2.1.7.3.1 of Appendix 2 to the State Anti-Corruption Programme for 2023-2025.
In particular, part ten of Article 8-1 of the Law of Ukraine On the Prosecutor's Office provides that every two years, but not more than twice during the term of office of the Deputy Prosecutor General - Head of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, an external independent assessment (audit) of the effectiveness of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is conducted. It is also established that the assessment (audit) of the effectiveness of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is carried out by the Commission for External Independent Assessment (Audit) of the Effectiveness of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office consisting of three persons appointed by the Prosecutor General based on proposals of international and foreign organisations that provide international technical assistance to Ukraine in the area of preventing and combating corruption in accordance with international or intergovernmental agreements.
